The result is a tool shaped by our creators, the people who know better than anyone what it takes to bring something new to life.

• Reward Upgrades & Add-Ons: Offer post-campaign reward upgrades and add-ons for more opportunities to gain support from new and existing backers and generate additional revenue.

How We Got Here: Building Our Pledge Manager With You

The journey to bringing Pledge Manager to the platform started with you, our creators.

A built-in pledge manager has been one of our most requested features, and we heard you loud and clear. Everyone from our executive team to engineers, product managers, and category leads spent time in conversations with creators – over Zoom, in emails, on calls, even over lunch – to better understand the biggest post-campaign pain points: data collection, shipping costs, tax compliance, post-campaign fundraising, and fulfillment workflows.

We took what we heard not just directly from creators, but also across the web – in Reddit threads, Facebook groups, on Discord – and built an initial version of Kickstarter Pledge Manager. We then invited a select group of creators to test this early beta and help us see the tool in action.

Across all the feedback we gathered, a few clear themes emerged:

• Ease of use is key: You want simple, intuitive ways to handle add-ons, shipping options, taxes and reward fulfillment.
• Separate platforms create friction: Setting up on third-party tools is a hassle and can be expensive — sending backers off-platform creates barriers and friction in the fulfilment process.
• Add-ons and upgrades drive value: The ability to offer more — and increase your campaign’s funding outcome — is a must-have.

Thanks to your feedback and partnership, we knew what Kickstarter Pledge Manager had to deliver — and we built it.

What’s available today reflects dozens of new features and improvements since our initial beta earlier this year. It’s a signal of how committed we are to evolving this tool quickly and intentionally — always with your needs at the center.

What’s Coming Next?

We’re already working on how to improve and evolve our pledge management tools. Here’s a preview of some of what you’ll be able to do soon: 

• Automated tax reporting & Canadian tax collection: Generate formatted reports for accounting and tax filing, with expanded GST/HST and provincial sales tax collection available in Canada.
• Direct integrations with Shopify & fulfillment partners: Seamlessly connect your pledge data to your Shopify store and popular fulfillment services for smoother order processing.
• Backer preview mode: View the experience exactly as your backers will see it, so you can test and refine before you initiate the pledge manager.
