What is a Superbacker?
Whether you’re a long-time backer or a creator aiming to attract serious support, understanding the Superbacker community is essential.
The Kickstarter ecosystem thrives for two reasons, Creators and Backers. Creators are the imaginative individuals behind innovative campaigns, while Backers are the supportive individuals who rally behind them. However, we actually have another level of supporter on the platform called—Superbackers.
In this article, we will delve into the importance of being a Superbacker, how you can become one, and the transformative power of supporting creative projects on Kickstarter.
Superbacker 101
A Superbacker is a highly committed user who goes above and beyond to support Kickstarter projects. To be considered a Superbacker, one must have backed 25 or more projects with a pledge of at least $10 within the past year. These users are the backbone of our backer community, with many offering advice to creators, guiding other backers, and helping to introduce projects to new audiences.

How do I know how close I am to Superbacker status?
You will be able to check your Superbacker status on your profile page. If you are already a Superbacker, you will see a Superbacker badge underneath your profile image. You can choose whether or not you’d like this badge to display to other users on your Account settings page.
If you’re not yet a Superbacker, you will see a status progress tracker there instead. This is only visible to you, regardless of your privacy settings. On this tracker, you can see how many projects you have backed that count toward Superbacker status. From here, you can also easily discover projects to back, so that you can unlock Superbacker status and all its perks.
5 Tips for Becoming a Superbacker
To become a Superbacker and have a big impact on Kickstarter, you need to consistently back creative projects; here are a few tips to help you get there:
1. Embark on a Journey of Discovery:
Explore various categories on Kickstarter and find unique and innovative ideas to turn them into reality. Share the projects you admire with others and support the creators you believe in. You can always download the Kickstarter App to stay up-to-date with the latest and newest creations.
2. Pledge with Purpose:
When you pledge to a project, you’re doing more than simply backing something. You’re supporting the creator by bringing their idea to life, and you’re joining a community of backers who are just as excited as you are to see something new come into the world.
3. Engage and Share:
Many Superbackers become active advocates for the projects they support. By sharing project updates, engaging in the comments, and spreading the word to their networks, they can help attract more backers and increase the likelihood of a project’s success.
4. Build Relationships with Creators:
Cultivate relationships with the creators you support. Engage in conversations and offer feedback. These connections will not only enrich your Kickstarter experience but also demonstrate your commitment to the creative community.
5. Stay Active and Consistent:
Enjoy exploring new projects, engaging with creators, and supporting campaigns that excite you. Over time, the community will recognize and appreciate your contributions and dedication. Remember, becoming a Superbacker is so much more than the number of projects you back, but the impact you make and the creativity you help foster.
Enjoy the ride, connect with creators, and celebrate the power of collective support. Together, we can make dreams come true and build a more creative world.
