What's New on Kickstarter This Summer: Better Discovery and Fulfillment Flexibility

At Kickstarter, we're always working to make it easier to bring creative projects to life, from helping backers discover great work to giving creators more control over fulfillment and campaign management.

This quarter, we've introduced a range of updates designed to make it easier for backers to discover projects they'll love, give creators more flexibility in managing fulfillment, and protect creators from fraud and harmful behavior.

Here's a look at what's new across three key areas: fulfillment flexibility, creator protection, and discovery.

Reach the right audiences and help backers discover more projects

Discovery remains one of the most important ways creators connect with new supporters. This quarter's updates make it easier for backers to explore Kickstarter and help creators guide visitors to the content that matters most.

Smarter Search & Discovery

Finding the right project just got easier. Our updated search experience gives backers more control over how they browse Kickstarter, with:

• A more powerful and intuitive search experience
• Local project discovery by town, region, or country
• Greater emphasis on live projects that can be backed right now

New Games & Publishing Subcategories

We've expanded our Games and Publishing categories with three new subcategories designed to improve discovery and help creators reach more relevant audiences:

• STL (3D printable file projects)

• TTRPG (Tabletop Roleplaying Games)

• Audiobooks

Link directly to sections of your project story

Creators can now link directly to specific sections of their project page, such as Rewards or Stretch Goals, making it easier for backers to access important information.

Manage orders and fulfillment with greater flexibility

Getting rewards into backers' hands is one of the most important parts of running a successful campaign. These updates give creators more control over fulfillment workflows and help reduce common logistical headaches.

Lock addresses by segment

Creators can now create segments from Backer Report filters and schedule address locks for individual groups, making it easier to manage phased fulfillment and batch shipping. This means creators no longer need to wait for all pledge manager responses to be in before starting address locking and fulfillment.

Edit survey responses after checkout

With creator approval, backers can update their survey responses after completing Pledge Manager checkout, helping ensure fulfillment information remains current as plans change.

Protecting creators & their communities 

We’re continuing to invest in tools that strengthen trust across Kickstarter. These updates give creators more control over their communities and help us better detect and prevent fraudulent behavior: 

Backer Removal Tool

Creators can now remove backers from both live and successfully funded campaigns, giving them greater control over their communities and helping address spam, harassment, and other disruptive behavior.

Enhanced Fraud Detection

Protecting creators and backers from fraud remains a priority. While scams and phishing attempts continue to evolve, we're investing in improved detection tools that help identify suspicious activity earlier and prevent bad actors from causing harm.

Never Miss a Product Update

These updates are part of our ongoing effort to build a better Kickstarter for creators and backers alike.

Every improvement we make is designed to strengthen the connection between creators and their communities, from helping backers find projects that inspire them to giving creators the tools they need to launch, manage, and fulfill with confidence.
