Your New Watch List: 21 Kickstarter-Funded Films Streaming on Tubi
This is the first wave of films to hit Tubi through the FilmStream Collective, the joint Kickstarter-Tubi initiative designed to support independent filmmakers
Starting today, 21 films – all funded right here on Kickstarter – are streaming on Tubi, a free streaming service that entertains over 100 million monthly active users, where people are watching billions of hours of film and TV each year.
Each film is making its Tubi debut after being handpicked for the FilmStream Collective, an initiative launched by Kickstarter and Tubi in June 2025 to give independent filmmakers the funding and distribution support they need to share their films with the world.
Starting today, you’ll be able to find all 21 films in an exclusive Kickstarter collection featured on Tubi’s homepage here. The collection also includes dozens of additional Kickstarter-funded titles – including Prospect (starring Pedro Pascal), Seaside (starring Ariana DeBose), and Obvious Child (starring Jenny Slate) – that were already available on Tubi, helping viewers discover even more community-backed storytelling in a dedicated space that celebrates independent films made possible by the Kickstarter community.
From horror films and comedies to dramas, documentaries, and romances, the collection reflects the incredible diversity of both the films and the filmmakers – including women, Black creators, LGBTQ+ voices, and first-time directors who are shaping independent film.
Here are just a few of the standout titles:
- The Decedent by Andrew Bowser takes us inside a funeral home, where a young mortician confronts the spirit of a serial killer on her embalming table.
- Don’t Trip, Alex Kugelman’s sharp, unsettling thriller, follows a struggling writer spiraling into a dangerous relationship with a troubled nepo baby.
- The GeeChee Witch: A Book Hag Story, from Fairfax Pictures, roots its horror in ancestral fear. After her mother-in-law is mysteriously killed, Leah and her husband relocate from Harlem to his family's estate in coastal Georgia. Out of her element she grows increasingly convinced someone in the low country has put the "root" on her. Leah's fears are realized when she discovers a Boo Hag has been unleashed on her family. Disguised in the skin of past victims, the witch is determined to take Leah's husband - and her life.
- God Said Give 'Em Drum Machines, directed by Kristian R. Hill and produced by Jennifer Washington, is a documentary that rewinds to 1980s Detroit, telling the story of how Black musicians built Techno music from the ground up – developing a sound that would travel the world, transform dance floors, and shape a multi-billion-dollar industry.

Funding has always been a hurdle for independent filmmakers — and securing distribution is harder than ever. Those challenges are exactly what inspired the launch of the FilmStream Collective.
By combining Kickstarter’s community-powered funding model with Tubi’s reach and commitment to being the platform for untold stories, the initiative gives filmmakers what the traditional industry often can’t: financial backing, creative freedom, and guaranteed distribution.
The launch of this collection is proof that the model works — that independent pathways for getting your film seen can exist outside of Hollywood’s gatekeeping structures. We’ll let you know as we add more films to the collection.
